This photo album is one of my favorite projects ever. It was lovingly started and beautifully maintained, with lots of detail. The mom wrote about many highlights in her daughter's life, illustrated with copious photographs. I wish I could show them to you. But I do need to respect the privacy of my client. She was the cutest little kid and her mom recorded her teachers' compliments about her sweet disposition. 

The cards from that era are precious.

I made the box with a special envelope to hold documents.

Photo album before repair. I took it apart, re-sewed all the pages, and gave it a new spine.

I added envelope pages for ephemera that had been inserted between the pages.

Time to Catch Up

 Although my blog has languished, the bookbinding has continued! This massive tome was a highly satisfying project, complete with its own box. It's not a Bible, but a history of a county that includes family members of the client. They wanted to preserve it for future generations. 

This was quite the challenge at first.

The faux suede piece pulls out, to make the heavy tome easier to remove from the box. The bookcloth envelope in the upper portion holds papers found between the pages.
